Most eye specialist adds that good eye care habits must be developed beginning in childhood. Here are some tips:
• Avoid rubbing your eyes. If you have to rub them, use a disposable tissue paper and always wash your hands when you do.
• If you’re in the habit of reading while lying in bed, it is ideal to keep a 30-centimeter distance between the book or reading material and your eyes. Or sit upright so you will not strain your neck or eyes.
• Watching television with the lights turned off will tire the eyes because of the blinking TV light. Keep your eyes approximately two meters away from the TV screen.
• In the office, take a break from the computer monitor every 30 to 40 minutes to let your eyes rest.
There are times when the eyelid moves or twitches involuntarily, which could be due to fatigue. Take a break and massage it a little.
• Use UV-ray protection sunglasses when going out. Like the skin, the eyes can also be damaged by the sun.
